This Branch is majorly concerned with the Elections of the Board Members, which are held in Specified Cooperative Societies, Notified Cooperative Societies, and Coop. Credit Societies etc. in the State. Elections of Coop. Societies are held as per MCS Act 1960 and Rules 1961.
- There are 3 types of Cooperative Societies which follow election guidelines
- Specified Cooperative Societies
- Notified Cooperative Societies
- General Cooperative Societies
- Elections of Notified Coop. Societies
Elections of Notified Coop. Societies are held by Registrar as per Section 73 IC of MCS Act 1960 and 56 of Rules 1961. Types of Notified Coop. Societies are as follows:
- Urban Coop. Banks having Share Capital Rs. 1 Crore & above.
- Coop. Consumers Societies
- Primary Agricultural Coop. Credit Societies having Paid-Up Share Capital of Rs.10 Lacs. And above.
- Elections of Specified Coop. Societies
Elections of Specified Coop. Societies are held by Collector as per Section 73 G of MCS Act, 1960 & Rules 1961. Elections are generally conducted every 5 years. Types of Specified Coop. Societies are as follows:
- Apex Societies
- All District Central Coop. Banks
- All Coop. Sugar Factories
- All Coop. Spinning Mills
- All District & Taluka Coop. Sales and Purchase Unions
- All District Agriculture & Rural Multipurpose Development Banks
- All Agricultural Products Market Committees etc.
- Any objection raised against nominations is treated under the Section 152 (A) of the MCS Act at State Level Societies. The decision has to be delivered within 10 days from the receipt of complaint.
